For years people have been going to church and lighting a candle for their saint. However, what are we to do when we do not have access to our church and want to say a prayer and light our candle like always. Well, a solution has finally been made. The cathedral of Santiago de Compostela was the first church to install monitors so that patrons can light a personal digital candle from anywhere in the world. Church’s from all around are following the lead and installing monitors among the congregation. Two dollar credit card donations can light a digital candle on a monitor in the church of your choice on a website MiVela.com, translated to “my candle.”

This is a very nice invention for frequent travelers who cannot always attend church but have prayers for others. The church also has the opportunity to make money from the credit card donations on the Internet. However, the introduction of technology in the church has a potential backfire. Why go to church when you can remotely light a digital candle from your own home? People will no longer fee the need to attend services if they can light a candle and say a prayer at their house.

Two financial problems arise from this new technological advancement for a church. First, not as many people will be showing up for service and there will be a lot of unused pews. A church’s upkeep is very expensive and is hard to validate paying when the space is hardly being used. Second, sure people are donating two dollars for a virtual candle but the Church is missing out on the valuable donations made upfront from passing baskets through the pews.

I don’t think churches will be negatively affected in our immediate future but we, Christian should definitely devise a plan so that we do not get crush financially from this new technology. Hopefully patrons will not be consumed by their laziness and will keep making it to service as we have done throughout the years.

The Pirates are back

After last years peak-pirating season in The Gulf of Aden has been a strengthening of warships off the coast of Somalia. This tactic to reduce pirating worked for a while but the pirates have become smarter and it has created a worse situation.
The pirates cannot work right along the coast so that have expanded their horizons. These Samoan pirates used AK-47’s and grenade launchers to take over 77 crewmen 1,200 miles from shore. This was a record heist with the crew and the distance from shore. They are going farther and farther from their homeland to escape the warships and hijack vessels. There are 15 vessels and 326 sailors currently being held, very close to last year’s numbers.

The warships have done nothing but secure the coast of Somalia and forced the pirates into waters that were once safe. They have moved out deep into the Indian Ocean making many merchants nervous.

I believe that the navy’s warships are dealing with the pirates in the wrong manor. They could use a more tactical plan to catch the pirates along the coast. I would try dressing a warship up like a merchant ship and baiting the bad guys in. When they are close enough and show weapons, open fire and kill them all. The navies protecting the coast have really screwed themselves and by scaring the pirates off. They are now dispersed over a much larger area and will be near impossible to catch.
If trade routes are no longer safe many merchants businesses will be crippled. Navies need to devise a plan to stop the pirating as soon as possible to save many lives and business.

The Fall of Big Ben

The two-time super bowl champion quarterback of my favorite team, Ben “Big Ben” Rosthesburger of the Pittsburg Steelers is in a downward spiral. The rumors of raping a woman and now these recent acquisitions have torn his public image apart. His black and gold fans as well as I are quickly loosing faith in his moral compass. I was watching the NFL draft hoping that my team would pick up a new stud to replace the dysfunctional human leading the “steel curtain.”

Ben has all the right talent but the correct attitude is needed to win games, an attitude he used to have. Ben has had several problems with his teammates. They say after the super bowl, Ben began to change from a humble over sized QB to an egotistical self-oriented player who stopped hanging out with other players.

Games are tough to win without the correct attitude and team bonding. Ben has lost both of these attributes. Games are also hard to win with out a strong leader as QB, which is why Ben should be traded. I will no longer support the Steelers as strongly while Ben Rothesburger is starting QB.

After the suspension from the scandals Pitt will probably still start Ben. as traded. Can I have any hope left. The Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, will prove to be just as twisted if he thinks Pitt fans will back him in starting Ben. I would hope that Santanio Holmes would step up and lead the offense for the next year but he w

Oil off Louisiana

Will they okay oil drilling off Louisiana’s fritter filled coast? It is currently being debated, however, after the recent explosion of the rig in the Gulf of Mexico people are worried and have the right to be. The rig that blew up is spilling 42,000 gallons of crude oil into the water per day. This however is not nearly as bad as purified oil that could eventually be within reach of the Louisiana coast, breeding ground for fish and shrimp, which will soon be decided.

Drilling off the coast would lead to large profits, but the chance of another explosion raises suspicion. It would lead to catastrophic devastation of the marine life and tourist attraction to the Louisiana coast, which far outweighs oil money. Oil drilling can be very dangerous to the environment. There are ecosystems surrounding the area the new rigs would be built.

Louisiana revolves around its bountiful coast. It has been known as the center for fresh fish, shrimp and crawdads. The spirited music and food brings crowds of visitors and tourist money as well. The oilrigs would strengthen Louisiana’s economy but it would take away from the culture that has lived in the boot shaped state for years.

Twitter turning pervy

What in the hell is so special about your day that you have to share it with the whole world? Who really cares what you are up to all day because I guarantee that nobody is following your tweets as constantly as you are updating them. Even famous people, ya ok, it is cool to watch you on TV but I really don’t care about your personal lives and what you do every second.

Our personal lives and thought are becoming more open on the Internet through Twitter. Whoever invented it had a good initial idea so that people can update their friends on where they are if they are not home. This Twitter has become way too evolved and is becoming part of our thinking patterns. Firth you think it or do it then your next immediate step is to Tweet it.

The average male thinks about sex every fifteen seconds. Revolutionized Twitter will become a sex-based program for predators. At the rate of evolution this site has had in connection with our thoughts, I will give it one year until is taken over by creepy old men that just learned how to use the internet and want sex from some underage child.

The awesome IPad

The Apple IPad hit the stores last Monday and became an immediate hit, selling over 300,000 on opening day. Apple states that they expect to sell ten million over the next twelve months. Over a million apps were downloaded from ITunes already.

Honestly what is the big deal with this whole IPad? It is just and enormous IPhone. Instead of using a recent IPhone or GPS, you can now get directions to where you are going from a huge IPad the size of a computer. As we have learned over the years, computers are much easier then a hand held GPS for in car navigation.

The IPad has the same three-year-old technology as the IPhone. Apple is pulling the wool over societies eyes with this gadget. They created a more expensive, less convenient IPod touch and expected people to buy it. The worst part about this is that it actually worked. Most companies have been trying to put technology into the smallest device possible so Apple went the totally opposite direction. This little scheme paid off so now Microsoft is following along and creating what is pretty much an IPod touch table. When will this nonsense stop!

So the IPad can’t serve as your phone, doesn’t have a camera, does not support flash or multitasking, and doesn’t really introduce anything new besides a larger constructed body.

Wait a second what am I thinking, this is a great tool because…. It can fit in a manila envelope!

Cali Mentality

“I got my board shorts, tank top, vans, long board, and zig zags what else could I need?” – Cali bro

Cruising the Bay area streets on their over sized skate boards wearing canvas shoes, the Cali bros popularity is quickly catching on in the west coast. They are migrating at a speed never seen before. Dallas Texas is currently being taken over.

Thankfully us north easterners will be the last of our nation to see them, being the farthest away from the origin. We will just have to see if their style can successfully cross the mid west. (Hopefully not)

One angry anti-Cali bro described them as “A guy in California who has all matching clothes and wears straight billed hats up and to the right. They are always d-bags.” If they happen to wear sleeves they are probably in an overly extended V-neck, which matches their “vans that look like sneakers.”

If you catch these Cali bro’s at the beach getting their bronze on they will most likely be shirtless in the same board shorts they wore all week holding a surf board. Also note f you come in contact with one you may catch the ever-contagious symptom of the “Cali Mentality.” Be very careful in large Cali bro populated area. My suggestion would be run.

Sorry I couldn't get a good picture of a Cali boy, every time I searched it on google Gay porn came up. Don't worry no link to that!
